- An on-grid solar power system is one which is connected to the grid and can function when the utility power grid is available.
- Solar power for industry can either be generated from an in-house solar plant (captive model) or through an off-site solar farm.
- The solar power thus produced can be used for normal day-to-day operations of the plant including lighting, ventilation, and equipment power supply.
- There are certain industrial firms in India which are meeting close to 30% of their power requirements through solar energy.
- The solar power system used by industries can be equipped with a battery storage system also.
- The battery storage makes the solar plant even more relevant when it comes to reducing the electricity cost.
Benefits of On Grid Solar Power System
- The on grid solar power systems will reduce the electricity bills.
- Easy Configuration and Maintenance

Options for Solar
Advantages of Solar PV
- Reduces the land requirements for installation.
- Power generation on local levelreduces the infrastructure costs.
- Help to reduce carbon footprint and pollution caused due to conventional power generation
Advantages of Rooftop Solar Plant
- Power Generation at lower cost
- Reduce the dependency/demand on state grid power
- Parallel op with Generator possible to reduce diesel consumption.
- Utilizing roof space for installation thereby saving on land cost.
- Utilizing generated power by connecting to the LT side during generation.
Modes of Investment
Option 1: OPEX
- No investment from Consumer.
- O&M is the responsibility of the EPC developer (ERTPL).
- A PPA agreement for 15 years /25 years with a defined rate for a negotiated period of time will be arranged by ERTPL
- All statutory licenses and approvals can also be taken care of ERTPL
- Min15% savings on the power generated as compared to the power purchased from DISCOM.
Option 2: CAPEX
- Consumer investment on the solar plant entitles him for accelerated depreciation benefits
- Huge benefits after the PAYBACK period for period of 20 years.
- Under current scenario for the payback period is around 4 to 6 years depending on the interest rate.
- Annual generation of approximately 15lakh units can be offset in the daytime consumption without the Transmission loss charges levied by TANGEDCO
- The charges too are minimal compared to Open access charges.
- Solar Plant maintenance will be under the control of the consumer.
